In a lot of ways, I'm just like any other fourteen-year-old you would like to meet. I love sports, especially Golf, and hanging out with my friends. The things that isn't always visible when you first meet me is that I have Crohn's disease. I've had symptoms almost my whole life, but it wasn't until I was 11 that I finally found a diagnosis and some relief. The inflammation was all the way from my mouth to my small intestines. Once I found a diagnosis, I started on medication to get my symptoms under control. Now I'm feeling the best I have for a long time. I still have my ups and downs, but I am trying my best to be as positive as possible through everything I face with my disease and that has really helped me to keep moving forward.
My Steps team is called Walt’s Warriors. I picked that name not only because I feel like I've had to be a warrior in fighting my disease, but also because I've had a lot of other warriors fighting to help have the best possible life in spite of my disease. By walking in Take Steps you can be a warrior for every other patient like me. We can't overcome these diseases alone, but through this community we have created through the Crohn's and Colitis foundation, we will.
